Idaho Fly Fishers Association (IDFFA)

This article was posted by YellowStoneFly of the Idaho Fly Fishers Blog on October 5th, 2011. Not being a computer geek, late last year I developed one of my first websites the IDFFA (an acronym for the Idaho Fly Fishers Association.com). As you already know, most fly fishing websites have chat rooms and/or blogs built into their sites. Well, limited resources and poor computer skills prohibited me from this approach. So, I did the next best thing.

I developed a website and multiple link tabs from free website and blog services which easily connect the two. Of course my passion and love for the sport originally stimulated the blog/website formation. I certainly make no money from them, but they are fun! Perhaps my prose could be better, but I do speak with passion about Idaho fly fishing. I currently get about 1000 page views each month without any marketing, so some out there must enjoy the read. Perhaps someday I might be able to sell ads (right now I give the space away). So if you know a vendor that wants some cheap advertising space on a passionate, evolving (growing in popularity) blog/website please let me know. Any other suggestions from those of you who are computer savvy, please post.
Anyway, the original purpose of the sites was to encourage persons to fly fish Idaho with me and other association members. We do now have ten members, including myself, with the bug. We get together for one special trip each year and we have a blast! The website and blog have expanded their purpose since their origins with articles which I think may be of interest to all fly fishers who not only fly fish Idaho but anywhere in the world. We also have some really cool fly fishing photos which have been accumulated over the years.

As a side, I have been a avid collector of a vast amount (according to my wife) of fly fishing stuff which I really need to purge. I (we) came to this realization just this month when I moved into a new house and found space limited. This has been a multiple decade hobby (addiction) and there really is some neat stuff. Check in frequently to see the things which I will be letting go. There are many antique fly rods (most of which I personally restored), antique reels, antique flies and some other really neat wall hangers for your get-away fishing cabins. I am hoping to develop a separate sales page just for this purpose, so stay with us. I do have a day job, but will get to this and other blog postings as soon as possible.

Happy Idaho fly fishing! Consider going fishing with me or other IDFFA members. Simply go to the member’s page on the website for their home states and email addresses.
