Coeur d'Alene Spring Fling

The Idaho Angler would like to share a recent email from Idaho Fly Fishers Association member Randy Dingman. Randy is a loyal follower of our blog. Why don’t you test his guiding skills the next time you are visiting and fly fishing Idaho? See his most current contact information below his note.

With rain pregnant clouds we threw the raft over the edge of the road gently sliding it in to a very fast and swollen river. The eddy we launched in had a soft look to it, With just one roll cast to the edge of the river we had the biggest fish yet this year....20 inches of a big mad female Cutthroat.
Yes sir… first hole, first cast…big mad fish. The next fish was a nice 18 inch male. The rest of the day brought plenty of hungry really colorful fish. We completed our four mile stretch which included 4 portages. We had to empty the 13 foot raft to lighten the load and drag it around the massive wind falls that crossed the width of the little tributary.

We have been lucky enough to get to fish early this season.  I can only pray that fly fishing for big trout with big wet flies in the CDA (Coeur d’Alene River) drainage will never get old.
