God, Guns & Guts

1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage' (Our Administration's Desire)

Since when do we not allow our children to play in our neighborhoods alone until dark?
Since when are children are not allowed to play Cowboys and Indians at recess?
Since when does a Tim Tebow get blacklisted by the NFL for being a Christian?
Since when is a Jason Collins revered and interviewed on Oprah?
Since when is the killing of 4 Americans in Benghazi not a perverted act of terrorism?
Since when are 2 Muslim terrorists from Chechnya "home, grown and domestic"?
Since when have the American people believed every word that comes out of our government?
Since when have we allowed the lay press to control our thoughts and beliefs?
Since when can the IRS inappropriately audit our citizens for being Republicans?
And finally, since when do we live in a "post-Christian" world?

The Preamble to The Bill of Rights

THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.

Note: The following text is a transcription of the first ten amendments to the Constitution in their original form. These amendments were ratified December 15, 1791, and form what is known as the "Bill of Rights."

Amendment II
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
