November 1 on the CDA River

Another email to share from Idaho fly fishing guide Randy Dingman.

Hello.  I would like to share a photo or two of some good 17 inch fish I found while floating November 1st on the Coeur d’Alene River in northern Idaho. I cannot express enough the enjoyment this local drainage gives to all fly fishermen new and old when visiting this area. Men, women and children can all enjoy the fight of these wild local cutthroat, which are catchable year round and are mighty fighters and in very good numbers. This is proof our catch and release program is very effective.

Almost overnight the weather has moved to highs in the mid 40’s and the lows that are cold. This may mark the end of another GREAT summer. The fish we found and the stories we shared will leave a mark on my memories that will warm me over the winter months to come. These memories will be the driving force to prepare me for the trips yet to come next spring.

I was lucky to be able to share our local rivers with people from Maine to Miami and all points throughout the USA. It is a great blessing to share my passion with others from the 8 year old little boy I had to carry on my back out to a gravel bar to the 77 year old angler, whom I also guided, that has been fly fishing Idaho longer than I have been alive.

I hope everyone out there will get to take advantage of our nice long season of Idaho fly fishing next year and go out to our local rivers and share the outdoors with friends and loved ones. Life is short so enjoy it NOW…..

Tight Lines,

Randy Dingman
