I, YellowStoneFly, stepped outside the other day and saw my shadow and said to myself, "damn it's still cold." Contrary, a good friend of the Idaho Fly Fishers Blog stopped me in the hall and showed to me a photo of a 6-7 pound rainbow he had just caught on Washington's upper Columbia River.
When asked how he was successful, "it was 18 degrees and I just slow stripped a large streamer and cleaned the icicles off my guides after every cast." That is not much fun in my opinion. Give me at least sun, above freezing and little wind.
It is simply too darn cold and snowy for me for sure - beautiful but cold. Some seasonal photos are pictured here. Click on to enlarge. Enjoy.
