Adams Irresistible

Adams Irresistible - The Forgotten Fly. A mayfly which floats forever due to the hollow body hair design and is very effective. You don't see these very often anymore.

Like elk. Make tail length of hook bend.

Tie in several strands of elk tightly near the wide end.

Pull tightly and elk will "flare" as you go.

Stop about 2/3rds way down and tie off with 1/2 hitches.
Trim to suit for body.

Add visible wing material.

Tie in grizzly hackle for wings. I like 2 hackle feathers.

Parachute or stack hackle.

Trim wing and tie off. Finish w/ head cement if desired.
Finished fly from fish's perspective.
This really is a GREAT fishing fly. It will float like a dream, but a little floatant also may help. Small sizes mimic BWO's or larger sizes for Adams male mayfly. If you want add a little yellow dubbing onto distal body near tail shuck it will mimic the female Adams. Hard takes, tight lines and great Idaho fly fishing to you all. Spring is almost here, so get ready and tie those flies. Look at/ Idaho Fly Fishers Blog Fly Tying Page.
