Went to White river for a weekend trip 2 weeks ago and had a good time.  I thought of you while I was there.

I found a quiet spot on the river and thought about when we first went to the bighorn. You're a great guy and true sportsman.  I remember watching you so effortlessly making perfect casts and thought about how I wished I could fish that good.  Well.....

I and two of my friends were considering a trip for a week of fishing on the Moyie. I grew up in Wallace, Idaho but had never heard of the Moyie until this last spring. Since none of us has any experience with the river/area any advice ..... We have been told that there is a grizzly problem ..... Also we would be wade fishing and was told the river is a tough one to do this on..... READ ON

Lower Kootenai Advice from and Idaho Fly Fisher - Recent email from reader.

Kootenai River Valley above Bonners Ferry, ID
Subject: Re: Lower Kootenai Advice
Dear YSF, We haven't met but a few years back I read a few of your posts and decided to get a pontoon raft to increase my local fishing opportunities. I did the St.Joe twice and the North Fork (of the) CDA several times and loved it. I've scouted out the lower Kootenai and would love to do it but have struggled with the logistics. It seems best to put in at the Yaak and pull out at the Twin Rivers Resort. It seems the resort has the take out pretty well sewed up. Any advice how to make this work?

MLK email from IDFFA member and local area fly fishing guide extraordinaire.
Dear YSF,
We had a wonderfully Lucky trip down the CDA River on January 19, 2015. We found a bunch of nice fish. The water is high and muddy so it takes a little magic to get them to hit the streamer patterns.. The local rivers are fishing well ... Book now for spring and summer months...
Will send the photos your way (when available).

Happy New Year YellowStoneFly,

Dec 19th with a small break in the bitter cold made it up to the Cda River for some late season cold weather fishing. To see if I could use your advice .....

YellowStoneFly,

Hello.  I would like to share a photo or two of some good 17 inch fish I found while floating November 1st on the Coeur d’Alene River in northern Idaho..... Men, women and children can all enjoy the fight of these wild local cutthroat, which are catchable year round and are mighty fighters and in very good numbers......
It is a great blessing to share my passion with others from the 8 year old little boy I had to carry on my back out to a gravel bar to the 77 year old angler, whom I also guided, that has been fly fishing Idaho longer than I have been alive......

Well all good things must come to an end. Our RV trip throughout the West has come to an end after two months and three days, 5230 miles and a lot of gasoline. We traveled through Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho then back into Montana.....

June 11, 2013 - The St. Regis River, Montana

Dear YellowStoneFly,

After morning meeting with all afternoon to myself  (my better half was at work) I drove over to St.Regis, MT. With every intention of fishing the Clark Fork (quite stained and running hard), I decided instead on the St. Regis River.  I found myself on the St. Regis River,.....

June 3, 2013 - The Big Hole, Montana

Dear YellowStoneFly,

Just had a great trip to the Big Hole, MT-- I will fill you in on the trip.

Started out Wednesday left about 8 am and went to Idaho Falls to pick up a new guide boat for Nick Slomski head guide at ROW. The Clackacraft factory was our destination. We needed to get there by 5 pm closing time. Made it fine, traded out boats and headed north to Dillon, MT (Madison county the fly fishing capital). Heavy rain for days sent every river in the region into heavy flows......

Dear Idaho Anlger,

Have you heard any reports from Kelly Creek?  With low snow pack and low spring flows I am thinking about making a trip over to the St Joe and wondered about Kelly.  From what I've read, it sounds like the northern Idaho rivers are running more like June.  That's certainly true of our Washington rivers.  I may head over to the Joe on Monday. I'm assuming the fishing may be better lowered down.
